Join us for a timely reexamination of the politics of hate legislation—its origins, legislative history, local
mobilizations, and disparate impacts. Distinguished scholar, Kevin Mumford, focuses on the major
contributions of the Anti-Defamation League to protect the vulnerable, particularly in the 1950s and
the 1980s. Studying the strange origins of hate crime, Mumford argues, reveals the intersecting forces
of racism, antisemitism, homophobia, and violent whiteness.
