Linda Bauer is Executive Director of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation. She has had a varied career in education, marketing, public relations, fundraising, and information technology.
She was born Luba Klajman in Fuerth, Germany, in 1948 in a displaced persons camp. Her parents were Wolf and Elsa Klajman, Polish Jews who survived the Holocaust, and met in Thereseinstadt following the liberation. They married and Linda was born during their nearly four-year wait to get papers to come to America.
This is the story of how Linda’s parents survived, met, married and came to America to make a new life.
