What is Musical Magic Live?
Musical Magic Live: Music and Song of Jewish Artists Through Time is an unforgettable fundraising event that will transport you through the captivating sounds of Jewish music, performed by three extraordinary musicians: Cameron Cornell, Angie Rouley, and Tamra Gingold. Each artist will bring to life songs from Jewish composers and performers across generations, invoking a deep emotional response and a sense of wonder. The melodies and lyrics featured in this concert will stir memories of hope, courage, resilience, and joy, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of optimism. Elizabeth Hess, Editor-in-Chief of Chambana Today, will be leading the events of the night as Master of Ceremonies.
This immersive experience combines the power of music with the historical significance of the traveling Holocaust exhibit SHOAH: How Was It Humanly Possible. This powerful exhibit, created by Yad Vashem, offers a profound look at the major historical aspects of the Holocaust, or Shoah, highlighting the systematic genocide carried out by Nazi Germany and its collaborators from 1933 to 1945. Through large, informative panels, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of this dark chapter in history, experiencing first-person accounts of persecution, survival, and the extraordinary resilience of the victims.
In addition to the historical content, the exhibit will feature personal stories from Holocaust survivors who call the Champaign-Urbana community home, adding a local and deeply personal perspective to the experience. We are deeply grateful to the Illini Hillel for their generous support in providing this exhibit. As attendees enjoy the live musical performances, they will also be invited to reflect on the lessons of the past and the importance of preserving the memory of the Holocaust for future generations.
This event will not only celebrate the beauty and strength of Jewish music, but also raise critical funds for the Lilly and David Gingold Holocaust and Tolerance Education Outreach Fund. Your support will help fund programs that educate students in rural and underserved communities, ensuring that the lessons of the Holocaust and the importance of tolerance are passed on through meaningful and impactful musical experiences.
