The Guttenberg Fund (Mariella M. Guttenberg Fund)

Mariella M. Guttenberg led a life shaped by service, intellect, and generosity. After immigrating to the United States in 1950, she worked with the Italian section of the World Bank and later directed the Washington D.C. office of TAN, Peruvian, and Ecuadorian Airlines. In 1964, she made her home in Champaign, where she became an active and engaged member of the community, including through the University of Illinois Women’s Club. She was married to Al Guttenberg, a professor of city planning at the University of Illinois.

In 2018, the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Endowment Foundation established the Guttenberg Fund through a generous gift from Mariella’s trust. Created as a Perpetual Annual Giving Endowment, the fund provides ongoing support to the Human Services Committee of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation. Each year, Mariella’s legacy helps offer vital assistance to individuals and families in need, reflecting her lasting values of dignity, compassion, and communal responsibility.

Those who wish to honor Mariella’s memory are welcome to direct contributions to the Guttenberg Fund, helping to carry forward her legacy of care for years to come.
