C-U Kristallnacht Commemoration with William "Bill" Gingold
To commemorate Kristallnacht, longtime Champaign-Urbana community member Bill Gingold
(Dr G) will share how he and his family survived the Holocaust. Bill was born on September 20,
1939 in Warsaw, Poland. He survived growing up in the Wasraw Ghetto, escaping into Soviet
Russia and being deported to Siberia.
Prior to his story, a group of students from the college of education will talk about a project
they have been undertaking this semester to educate themselves about the Holocaust with the
purpose of teaching about the Holocaust in school during their education careers.
