On January 14th, 2026 at the Cohen Center at 12PM, CHAI Seniors will be joined by Anastasiia Strakhova, the Associate Director of the Program in Jewish Culture and Society. Anastasiia specializes in Modern Jewish history with a concentration on Eastern Europe, particularly Ukraine, and migration. She received a Masters from Central European University and a Ph.D from Emory University. Before joining the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Anastasiia held postdocs at Duke and Harvard Universities.
In addition to administering the Program in Jewish Culture and Society and promoting public engagement, Anastasiia serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Program. She oversees the Jewish Studies major and minor, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, and supports students’ academic and professional development.
